About the El Toro InfoSite

To facilitate communication between all persons and organizations with concerns regarding the construction of a major commercial airport at El Toro, California after the Marine Corps Air Station, El Toro closes in 1999.

To inform the public regarding El Toro reuse by disseminating information from the media, the government, the business community, local organizations, environmental research and out-of-area groups opposed to airport expansion in residential communities.

To encourage citizen participation in activities that promote non-aviation reuse of the Marine Corps Air Station, El Toro site.

With the demise of plans for El Toro airport, this website has broadened its coverage to provide news about all of the commercial airports in Southern California.

The Public Relations Society of America, Orange County Chapter, presented a  Protos Award of Excellent to the El Toro Info Site at a ceremony at the Hyatt Regency in Irvine on June 25, 1999.  The website won the top honor in the Internet and On-Line Marketing Program category.  1999 was the 24th year of the PRSA's Protos award competitions.
