County Auditor’s Report says NO NEW TAXES
County Auditor David E. Sundstrom commissioned an independent financial analysis of El Toro by a nationally recognized public finance firm. The report concluded:
Federal Government Must Clean Up Base
According to a report by the California Environmental Protection Agency, "The Department of Defense is legally responsible for remedying the contamination at military bases to the extent necessary to protect future property users and the environment." That means the federal government must pay for all toxic clean up whether El Toro is used as a park, an airport, or any other use.
An Airport at El Toro is the Biggest Threat to Taxpayers and Homeowners
The county’s estimated cost of building El Toro airport has doubled — to nearly $3 billion. Because the county’s airport plan does not comply with the requirements for federal grants to rebuild military airports, Orange County taxpayers could be left holding a $3 billion dollar bag.
Property values would also nosedive for all homeowners caught under the flight path, which will include parts of Anaheim, Orange, Tustin, Huntington Beach, and all of South Orange County. Get the facts at www.eltoroairport.org.
Stop the Airport. Protect our Quality of Life. Vote YES on Measure W — Everyone Wins.
