Replaces April 2002 timetable which assumed a
public benefit conveyance from the Navy to Irvine..
May 2003: Irvine
City Council is scheduled to certify the environmental-impact report.

Summer 2003: LAFCO to
review annexation request by Irvine, and
the General Services Administration to begin public auction of base
land for the U.S. Navy. (3)
Fall/winter 2003:
Annexation process is scheduled to be finished
(2), and the GSA's auction should be completed. (4)
Spring 2004: Development
agreements to be completed with private
landowners. (5)
Notes on actual
timeline:
(1) The Irvine City Council certified
the Great Park EIR on schedule in
late
May, 2003
(2) LAFCO approved annexation in November 2003 but official recording
of the annexation
was delayed by the Airport Working Group until January 2004.
(3) Start of auction delayed by federal government, first until late
2004 and then to January 2005.
(4) Completion of auction February 16, 2005.
(5) Development agreements scheduled for completion after
transfer of title in mid-2005.

Fall
2005: Work begins to break up runways and install roads and
utilities.
2006: Construction begins on
Sports Park and wildlife corridor.
2007: Work begins on first
phase of Meadows Park and on the first of 3,400 homes.
2008: Great Park grand opening.
2015: Last of the 3,400 homes
to be built.
