Len: I understand folks may be concerned about the Board action related to the potential for extending the John Wayne Airport (JWA) Settlement Agreement. Let me explain what this action did, it merely provided the opportunity for the City of Newport to begin discussions with the County (CEO & John Wayne Airport Director) on a potential for extending the settlement agreement at John Wayne Airport. That Board action was an "ok" to begin discussions -- no approvals to keep the caps, no compromises, period.

Now, as for my position on John Wayne, frankly, I have not waivered on my position regarding John Wayne Airport one iota, regardless of the Board action. I have long maintained that I will push for NO PHYSICAL EXPANSION of JWA -- which incidently, is ETRPA's position as well. At the same time, I have advocated moving more passengers out of that airport. One of my guiding principles as Fifth District Supervisor, has always been - Quality of Life for all the residents. I still believe we can have that quality of life -- without an airport at El Toro and no physical expansionof JWA.
Thanks -
