It's Democratic to Vote Again

Airport proponents say "Its been decided.", but
history shows that three votes aren't always enough.
Here's one answer to why we should vote again.

There have been three ballots on an airport at El Toro. Measure F was 67.% against the airport. The  majority of Orange County residents want the chance to decide on the issue. Reconsidering a vote, when more information becomes available, is the democratic American way.

Consider how women won the right to vote in this country. It required hundreds of ballots over many years. California Senator Aaron Sargent introduced a proposed constitutional amendment in Congress in 1878, to grant women the vote. It was reintroduced into every succeeding Congress until its final adoption in 1920. Fortunately, the supporters of women's rights didn't quit after only two tries.

It is always wise to reconsider important matters. Now that we have a non-aviation plan to compare against an airport, it makes sense to give the public a choice.

"To get the word 'male' ... out of the Constitution cost the women of this country fifty-two years of pauseless campaigning... During that time they were forced to conduct fifty-six campaigns of referenda to male voters; 480 campaigns to get Legislatures to submit suffrage amendments to voters; 47 campaigns to get State constitutional conventions to write woman suffrage into state constitutions; 277 campaigns to get State party conventions to include woman suffrage planks; 30 campaigns to get presidential party conventions to adopt woman suffrage planks in party platforms, and 19 campaigns with 19 successive Congresses." - A chronology of the suffrage movement.
