Example Image    AB2333 - Nakano Bill

Urgent action required

California Assembly Bill AB 2333 is intended to pressure Orange County to build airport capacity to service the County's presumed "fair share" of regional traffic.  The bill was introduced by Assemblyman George Nakano who represents the district that includes LAX.

Orange County's "fair share" is to be determined by the Los Angeles-dominated Southern California Association of Governments, SCAG. SCAG forecasts have been notoriously inaccurate.

The bill would require SCAG to review airport plans, including plans for John Wayne, for compliance. It puts the unusual concept of county "fair share" into state law as a basis for future legislative action.

The bill passed in the Assembly and is now in the Senate Transportation Committee for action.
