(1) The term, O&D - Origin and Destination passengers, is commonly used to identify those
whose trip originated or ended at a residence, hotel or business in the area.  This does not include "Connecting" passengers who get off one plane and onto another without leaving the airport, or "Transit" passengers whose plane lands and then takes off enroute to another city. In the 2001 surveys, passengers arriving at the airport were asked for and classified by their point of "Origin".

(2) To make the analysis more current, the 2001 percentages  in the second column are applied here to the actual volume of air travel at LAX in 2003.

The 15.4 % of O&D passengers from Orange County listed the following principal departure point:
